more snow bunting reports

Postby hbruton on Tue Dec 22, 2009 6:02 pm

My roomie and I headed up to Metz today to try and find some winter raptors. Not much luck with that but we did find a huge flock of about 500 snow buntings feeding in a corn field near the corner of the Sixth Line and side road 25 east of Metz. There was a spill of corn there they were happily feeding on and hopefully will return to feed there again. We'd found other groups last week south of Tavistock but nowhere near this large a group. It was pretty cool. We'll be checking photos to see if any Longspurs were mixed in. On the way home ,near to Marsden and Maryhill we also spotted a feeding flock of 15 wild turkeys in a field. A nice way to end a lovely day of car birding.
