Birds at Luther Marsh Today.

Postby karl egressy on Mon May 15, 2006 5:32 pm

Three of us, including a good friend of ours from Montréal by the name of Alain Goulet went to Luther Marsh this morning.
We had very good birding there despite the not so user friendly weather.
The best birds were:
COMMON LOON (3), SANDHILL CRANE (1), COMMON RAVEN, YELLOW-BELLIED SUPSUCKER (1).
We also saw and/or heard nine species of Warblers, three species of Sparrows, two species of Flycatchers,
altogether fifty-five species of birds.
Other sightings:
Four White-tailed Deer, and a Beaver sleeping along one of the roads crossing the marshy area.
It was so close, that I could not take a picture with my teleobjective.
Alain found two nests, a Robin's nest with one egg and two hatchlings and a nest of a
Northern Cardinal with three eggs.
Many of you know Alain and you know how excellent birder and amazing nest finder he is.

Best Regards:
Karl & Marienna Egressy

canoeing in Luther Marsh?

Postby James/Sarah on Wed May 16, 2007 10:46 am

Does anyone know if you can canoe in Luther Marsh - I've heard it's good canoeing in there to see marsh birds but I've also heard that you can't boat in there until later in the summer - does anyone know these dates? -- I can't seem to find anything on the web. Thanks for any help.
