Cackling Geese at Conestogo Lake

Postby Mike Burrell on Mon Oct 06, 2008 9:21 am

Yesterday morning (Oct 5) Ken and I had great views of 2 Cackling Geese at Conestogo Lake. They were north of the dam accessed from Cottage Road D, follow it to the end and at the end we could see about 800 Canada Geese with the 2 Cackling mixed in. Not any shorebirds to speak of (1 Killdeer and 2 rather late Spotted Sandpipers).

Also present (either at the dam or the over look just north of it) were 2 Bonapartes Gulls, many Shovelers, Ruddy Duck, Green-winged Teal, Black Ducks, and a couple Cormorants.
